In line with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) guidelines, we conduct comprehensive screening to confirm that all candidates are physically, emotionally and mentally healthy. This screening includes:
 • A detailed medical and family history review, a physical exam and blood tests to check hormone levels.
 • A psychological evaluation to assess motivations and emotional stability.
 • An inventory of your unique characteristics (such as hobbies, education and personality).

Eligibility Requirements

Age
ASRM recommends that egg donors be between 21–29. Egg quality and fertility decline after the early thirties, so staying within this age range helps maximize success rates.
General health
Donors must be in good overall health. Key factors include:
 • Body–mass index (BMI): Agencies typically require a BMI between 18–29; our program uses a BMI range of 19–29. BMIs outside this range can increase the risk of complications.
 • Non‑smoker: Smoking or vaping can damage egg quality.
 • Substance‑free: No history of drug  or substance abuse.
 • Family history: No serious hereditary genetic disorders.
Having a high BMI, smoking or substance abuse can all compromise egg quality and reduce the chances of a successful pregnancy. Avoiding genetic diseases helps protect the future child’s health.

Question 3

Reproductive Health

Accepted Answer

Donors need to have:
 • Regular monthly menstrual cycles.
 • No reproductive disorders (such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome).
 • Two functioning ovaries; donors with a single ovary are typically disqualified because egg yield is lower.
 • No use of long‑acting contraceptives (e.g., hormonal implants, certain IUDs or injectable birth control) that suppress the menstrual cycle.
These requirements ensure a good response to fertility medications and reduce the risk of complications.

Mental Health

Candidates must be mentally and emotionally stable. Psychological screening verifies that donors understand their role and can handle the emotional aspects of donation.

 • Willing to undergo medical and psychological evaluations.
 • Able to self‑administer injectable medications.
 • Prepared to commit to the donation process for around 12–16 weeks, attending multiple appointments over 3–6 months.
 • Dependable, organized and able to keep track of appointments.
 • Able to secure reliable transportation for all appointments.
